Alaska – Day 2 – Vancouver – Pics Part 1!

Wednesday July 12, 2023

Hi Gang! We survived the YWCA! Lol. It was actually really nice and I see how it gets such great reviews. They had a nice rooftop terrace looking over the city, free coffee and lemon infused water in the lobby and the best part was part of our payment goes to supporting woman’s programs in the community for those less fortunate. Can’t beat it!

We got an Uber to take us to the cruise port but the driver had a hard time finding where to drop us off. There were 3 cruise ships in port totaling over 7,000 passengers so it was a zoo! Even going thru the embarkation process took longer since everyone from all three ships had to snake thru the same line. But we made it on by like 12:30 and had a nice lunch.

We quickly noticed that this ship is a lot more luxurious than the last Regent ship we were on. This one is newer and a little larger (730 passengers). I took lots of pictures all around the ship. But one downside is the wifi on this ship doesn’t seem as fast as the last one so not sure how many of my pictures I’ll be able to post to the blog.

After walking the whole ship and getting a feel for it, we went down to check out our room and relax on the balcony. The room is really nice with dual vanities in the bathroom and the bed facing outside. As we sat outside taking in the beautiful mountains around Vancouver it was really cool to watch the float planes take off and land right beside us. It was literally like an airport runway! It was also cool to watch the two other ships in port leave the harbor before us while the float planes flew past them. And the weather was gorgeous today. Sunny and 72 with no humidity. Gotta say we don’t miss the heat and humidity back home!

We got unpacked and got ready for dinner. We ate in the main restaurant (the Compass Rose) which is always fantastic. We were both having lobster withdrawals since the last cruise so we both ordered it and I had mine added to my beef tenderloin dish. So tasty! And don’t fall over but neither of us had dessert! There weren’t really any great chocolate choices so we skipped the calories.

After dinner we went to the show which was really good. It was a small snippet of music from each of the ships various musical acts.  We then listened to the piano player as well as the Regent Orchestra and also snuck in some casino slot pulling!

Given the 3 hour time difference we hit the wall around Midnight which was really 3 AM in East Coast time! Tomorrow we have a sea day cruising thru the Inside Passage!
