Hi Gang! We had another great day today. We were in Halifax, Nova Scotia which is one of the deepest ports along the Canadian coast. We did an excursion to Peggy’s Cove which is one of the most photographed lighthouses in Canada. It too was a great excursion with a great tour guide who was dressed in a kilt (in his family’s tartan colors) to rep his Scottish heritage. We still think those two excursions that weren’t that great are just anomalies.
We started the day out with breakfast delivered via room service. We’ve done that several days and find it so much more convenient than heading up to La Veranda for breakfast. And the food is delivered warm and it tastes great! I included a picture today.
The excursion took most of the afternoon. The drive to and from Peggy’s Cove is really beautiful. Lots of trees and water everywhere. And you may ask, what’s the deal with “Peggy’s Cove”? Legend has it that Peggy’s Cove was named after a shipwreck survivor named Peggy. She was the sole survivor of a wreck and as she settled in and married a local fisherman, she became known as Peggy of the Cove. So that’s where it got its name. But it is so quaint with all the lobster boats and the iconic lighthouse. It’s like a postcard as you’ll see from the pictures!
After the excursion, Kathy did a little shopping in town and I chilled back on the ship. We had another great dinner and went to a fun game called “The Liar’s Club” where you try to guess who’s telling the truth. We ended with some slots and piano music.
Tomorrow we have a sea day as we head down to Bermuda. Happy Father’s Day tomorrow to all the Dads out there! I was blessed to have a great Dad who was a great role model and though he passed several years ago, I still try to emulate him as a Dad and Pap Pap!
