Hi gang! Well our trip home was anything but uneventful. But I guess when you try to fly standby on Easter Sunday and maybe the end of Spring Break for some families you never know what you’re going to get!
But on the bright side, our disembarkation from the ship was flawless and took us only a few minutes since we were one of the first 15 people or so to get off the ship. I also caught some really cool pics coming in to the port of Miami Sunday morning.
We really wanted to fly direct from Miami to Charlotte but we watched those flights all week go down to hardly any seats available. So we looked at various connecting flights and the one thru Tampa looked pretty decent. So we easily got on the first leg of the flight to Tampa around 11 AM and were in Tampa before Noon. Our connecting flight to CLT was leaving at 1:00 so we just chilled and waited for it thinking we’d get on.
We slowly watched the available seats go down and other standby passengers with higher priority go up. Pretty soon we realized we wouldn’t get on that flight. But Kathy had to work early Mon morning and had to get home no matter what. I had a little more flexibility so I told her to take the jump seat (an extra seat only flight attendants can sit in) since it didn’t look like she may get home otherwise and I’d wait it out in Tampa.
So Kathy got on that flight and I missed the next two flights. (Of course I will always hold it over her that she left me in Tampa! Lol). But luckily I finally got the last seat on the 5:30 flight and I was in CLT by 7:30 PM Sunday night.
That’s all for this trip. We’re scheduled for another ultra luxury cruise line trip on Regent Seven Seas in June. So it will be interesting to see how they compare. Regent, you got big shoes to fill since Seabourn was amazing! Hope everyone had a great weekend and a great Easter. Until our next trip, stay healthy all!
