Hey Gang! Yes, we’re on the road once again ready to head off on another cruise. But this time it’s not your traditional, big ship cruise line like we’ve done recently, think Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Holland America, etc. Nope this cruise line, Seabourn, is in what they call the Ultra Luxury Cruise Line category. Think bathrooms with dual sinks and all marble, each room being a suite with separate living and sleeping areas, unlimited caviar, and no more than 600 passengers with the crew being more than half that so the attention to service is supposed to be top notch.
We thought this year we’d try some of these more upscale ships and see what the experience is like. We have a few more planned for later in the year so we can compare and contrast them. Should be fun just to see what they’re like.
This one leaves from Barbados and is a 10 nighter covering the Southern Caribbean and stops on many islands neither of us has been to such as St Lucia, St Kitts/Nevis, Martinique, etc. For this one we had to do the trains, planes and automobile just to make it to Barbados. We flew from Charlotte to Fort Myers, got a rental car and drove to Miami, spent the night there and then got a flight to Barbados. Whew, what we’ll do for free air fare!
So we’ve been hanging in Barbados for a few days and really enjoying it. We got an AirBnB right near the beach but tucked into this traditional Barbados neighborhood with roosters, chickens and goats walking everywhere! The people in the neighborhood are so friendly and always say hi.
We’ve been chillin’ at the beach most days and watching the most beautiful sunsets in the evenings. We board our ship tomorrow! YAY!! Can’t wait to check it out and see if it lives up to the hype!
Not sure if I’ll blog throughout the cruise yet. We get standard wifi and as long as that works well and allows me to upload pictures I’ll be posting. Otherwise I’ll wait till I get home to post about each day.
