Hi All! I am late in posting this but better late than never! Back at the end of Feb I totally spoiled both of my grandkids (the rightful duty of all grandparents!) and took them on their first cruise! Gotta get them started on the travel bug and wanderlust early! I also set the bar extremely high for their birthdays since this cruise was to celebrate Kye’s 3rd birthday. Rumor has it that CJ is requesting a trip around the world for his 3rd birthday! Lol
I actually took all of my kids too (can’t forget them!) so it was a very cool family get together. We took the Carnival Sunshine ship out of Charleston which was easy to drive to (except for Jen!) and a fun ship with lots of cool features. Yes, we were frequent takers of Guy Fieri’s burgers!
The boys were amazed at how big the ship was (wish I could post the video I have of their faces as we walked up the ramp to the ship!), how much food there was (especially the endless watermelon!), and playing with all the other kids at the kids club. They even got in some basketball, ping ping and cornhole!
Kye was especially spoiled (as he should be!) with the waiters at dinner bringing him a birthday cake each night and singing happy birthday to him. I also had his room decorated with happy birthday signs and streamers. But he was most excited about the happy birthday medallion he could wear around his neck and wore that proudly everywhere!
The cruise was a four nighter with two sea days and a stop at their private island, Half Moon Cay. The boys loved swimming in the ocean and playing at the playground.
The adults had fun too playing trivia, watching shows and going to the comedy club. All in all it was an amazing vacation. The grandkids were so well behaved (even sitting at dinner for almost 2 hours!). The fun part at dinner was every night they would announce that it was “Showtime” and the waiters would dance around and we’d all wave our napkins in the air. The boys loved that! One of the funniest videos we have is CJ waving his napkin and knocking food off his plate!
Hope we all can do another fun cruise like that together again! Cruising as a family is the way to go!
