Hi guys! Quick update from our crazy situation yesterday trying to get out of the port of Santiago due to the high swells. We never got out until 6 AM this morning! So pretty much 12 hours later than planned. Since the captain can’t make up that much time, that now means we have to miss our first port tomorrow called Puerto Montt that we were looking forward to. Seriously… who looked into that statues eyes??? Lol
So today was our first sea day so we just did some trivia and listened to various music groups and of course ate a lot! We missed winning trivia by one point! We were one of the only ones that got the answer to this question right. See if you know it. Who was the shortest player ever to play in the NBA? Being from Charlotte helped! The answer was Mugsy Bogues!
The other cool thing we did was go listen to an expert in Antarctica. He pretty much dedicated his whole life to studying Antarctica. Done many expeditions there, oversaw several research stations there and just shared tons of fascinating information about it. He shared that the only non-marine creature that can survive the harsh conditions of the Antarctica winters is a mite. It’s able to freeze it’s body fluids thru the winter and then thaw out in the summer and continue to survive. Crazy! So all that info made us hungry! Lol
We decided to try the hot dog stand they have for lunch. And don’t think standard hot dog… these are gourmet dogs! They also have bratwurst and the French fries were really crispy. As you can see by the picture it was as yummy as it looked. We’ll start the diet tomorrow!
Tonight was formal night so we got all dressed up and enjoyed a great meal together. After dinner we listened to the dueling pianos and called it a night. Since we’ll miss our port tomorrow, we’ll have another sea day. But it will be Friday the 13!!!! Let’s see what the statue brings tomorrow! Lol
I hear there were some tornados and other severe type weather rolling thru Charlotte. I hope everyone there stays safe!
