Mexican Riviera- Day 5

Well you know what they say, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. And since our sailing and snorkeling trip yesterday wasn’t broke then we dare not fix it. So we went on a similar trip today but it had some added surprises to it which I’ll explain in a bit.

Today’s excursion didn’t leave until 10:45 so we had a leisure breakfast and headed down to get the tender boat. We had to anchor offshore as did the cruise ship next to us which was the Disney Wonder (I actually cruised on that ship 15 years ago!).

Even when we got to shore we had some time before our excursion started so we went and did a little clothes shopping. Have to get the grandkids their Cabo gear! The thing that amazed me was all the prescription drugs they sold without needing a prescription. Prednisone, Z-pack antibiotics, muscle relaxers, etc. And the place was packed with people buying that stuff. Crazy!

We eventually walked down the pier and boarded our sailboat. Like yesterday, the boat held about 28 to 30 but we only had 12 passengers today. And this boat was wider so it felt roomier and we were able to move around easier. As we’re leaving the port we sailed past the famous arches rock formation that’s a signature landmark for Cabo. There were tons of other boats sailing around it since it is so famous.

After we sailed for awhile, we came upon our first surprise… WHALES!! I had no idea there were whales down in this area at this time of year. Could the whales we saw in Alaska have followed us here? They did say these whales normally are only here from Dec to Feb so maybe they did follow us!

We then went and snorkeled for awhile and there were way more fish today than yesterday. But we figured out why. The captain was throwing bread into the water and it caused all the fish to come around!

This boat also fed us well just like yesterday. But the ride back to port was totally different than yesterday. He opened up the sails and had that boat keeling at a 90 degree angle! It was wild and I thought either the whole boat was going to flip over or we were all going to slide off. But it was fun!

After we got back to port, we found our other surprise. A couple sea lions were hanging on the dock right next to us lifting their heads and barking. It was too funny. We then got back to our ship and showered and got ready for dinner.

Tonight’s meal was very good and we both had the short ribs with the meat just melting in your mouth. After dinner the show was a magician who did some amazing card tricks as well as illusionist type things. How do they do those things!

Tomorrow is a sea day so we can relax and have a chill day. Happy Hump Day to all!
