Well gang we made it back to the good ol’ USA! As I always say at the end of my travels, I love exploring different countries but it always reminds that we live in the greatest country in the world!
Our whole process home was pretty smooth. The Azamara shuttle left the port promptly at 6:45 AM. It took a little over two hours so we were at the airport by around 9 AM with plenty of time to make our 12:15 PM flight. Your prayers worked and we got standby seats from Venice to Philly! YAY!
However our first Philly to CLT flight was oversold so we couldn’t get seats on that one but we only had to wait an hour and got seats on the next flight.
We thoroughly enjoyed both Croatia and the Azamara cruise ship. Being our first time on Azamara we didn’t know what to expect but it totally exceeded our expectations (with the exception of one thing that I’ll mention later).
We love the small size of ~ 600 passengers vs 4,200+! There were no lines for anything like getting on and off the ship, getting a table at dinner, going to the shows, etc. And speaking of the shows, we thought they would not be as good as the big ships but we liked them better. Just people singing and playing great music. We loved the piano player (“Derek on the keys”) and would listen to him in the “Den” every night after the show. The “White Night” party they had was unique and fun. Overall it just felt like one big happy family with even the Captain greeting us all personally when we disembarked on the last day.
Would I go on that cruise line again? You bet! But there is one major thing I would change. They rarely had any really good chocolate desserts!! And as a true chocoholic, I was having withdrawals! Lol. So I’m sending them the recipe to the chocolate lava cake that every other cruise line offers every day! Hopefully they will change that!
Thanks for following along with us as we immersed ourselves in Croatia. Such a beautiful country and such friendly people. Until our next trip… Bon Voyage!
PS: I have to be fair and show the one chocolate dessert they offered that was pretty good. But why not more?? Lol
