Croatia – Day 7 – Sibenik and Trogir

Hi guys. I hate to even write these words but today was our last day in Croatia (Loud sobbing in the background). But our streak of great weather continued and similar to our first port stop in Croatia, we took a day trip in the morning and spent the afternoon in our port city.

In the morning we went to the tiny medieval island of Trogir. It too is a walled town with lots of narrow alleyways to meander down. It also has a “Riva” or waterside promenade as well as a  couple cool churches. We spent a few hours there just admiring the beauty and almost getting lost down those alleyways!

We then came back and walked around Sibenik (pronounced shibenik). It was founded by the Croatians in the 7th century. Unbelievable factoid – Sibenik was the first city in the world to have electricity through an electric system devised by Croatian Nikola Tesla! And of course this place too was used as the background for several GOT scenes. During three episodes in Season 5, The Cathedral of St James is the setting for the Iron Bank in the City of Bravos.

Well we once again have to ask you all for some prayers to get us two standby seats for the way home. The flight is looking tight but we have our fingers crossed. But if we don’t get on, who minds an extra day in Venice? Lol. And believe it or not, we leave for another cruise in a few weeks, this time to the Pacific coast and the Mexican Riviera. We are truly blessed!

So I hope you all enjoyed our immersion week in Croatia. It totally exceeded our expectations and we loved every town we went to. Be on the lookout for the pictures from Sibenik and Trogir at a later time.

I’ll send one more entry after we get home. Cross your fingers!!
