Hi guys! We made it to Croatia! And she did not disappoint!! Our ship docked at the town of Opatija, which is a small, beautiful town but since we were in port so long we decided to take a day trip in the morning to Rovinj (Roh-veen) which is on the Istrian peninsula, and spend the late afternoon in Opatija. We had beautiful weather and the two towns were amazing.
In Rovinj, we had a tour guide take us around to see all the sites and then still had time on our own to explore the town. The tour guide took us to this quaint little residence where we all had a snack of goat cheese and marinated sardines on crusty Italian bread. So yummy! The town itself had lots of winding narrow streets of cobblestones that were fun to explore and try to get lost in! It is kind of a walled town with a church on top of the hill like many European towns. We did lots of walking and got our steps in (to help take off some of that cruise food!!)
When we got back to Opatija, we walked along the water front promenade to the statue on the water called the Maiden with the Seagull. They say it’s one of the most photographed statues along the Croatian coast. Yep, chalk another one up from these tourists! Lol
We then got back on the boat and got ready for dinner. The food was excellent again tonight and after dinner we went to the show. The performer was named Martin Kaye and was from Manchester, England. He was really good and sang and played piano and was so high energy he even played the piano with his feet! Crazy!
After the show we went to listen to a piano player who was really good. Hope everyone’s week is going well. On to Zadar!
PS: Hey guys, the internet has been really slow on the ship and it’s getting late so I’ll post more pics when I can!
