Day 2 – Sea Day!

Hi all! We woke up to a beautiful sunny day on our way to The Last Frontier. I love having a balcony to take in the beauty of the ocean. Relaxing in the quiet of the early morning on the balcony is a favorite cruise experience.

We decided to do breakfast in the Main Dining room rather than go to the buffet. Here you pick from a menu and get waited on. It’s a nice leisurely experience. In theory, you’d think you‘d eat less since you don’t just pile on the food at the buffet line but in this case… Not! I ordered way too much food but it was sooo good!

After breakfast we went to Trivia and did pretty well this time. Got 12 out of 20 questions right but not enough to beat the winner at 16. After that we went to this cool show that honored all the military veterans onboard. There were tons of them and the orchestra played each armed forces marching band song. Makes you proud to be an American and to honor these folks that give us the freedoms we all enjoy!

After that we walked around for a bit and then of course… we have to eat again! We had lunch in the Windjammer buffet. Always tons of food to choose from and it’s always so good. As we walked there was saw a whole pod of whales swimming along beside the ship! They were a little too far away to get a good picture but a little taste of the nature we’ll see in the next few days!

After lunch it was on to more Trivia! This time we did not do well. Who would know that a shark has no bones? Not us! Lol.

We then walked around for a bit and went to the Name That Tune competition with the category being Broadway Shows. We didn’t do too bad but the emcee was having a bit of a language barrier so it was a little confusing on what exact answers he was looking for. Right after that a young guy came into the same bar area and played some beautiful piano tunes. Then… you guessed it, time to eat again!

Tonight was formal night but not many people get super dressed up anymore. I didn’t see any tuxes but everyone looked dapper. The dinner was once again very good and after dinner we went to the main show of a comedian/ventriloquist. One of the other benefits of our Key Club is we get VIP seats at all the shows so we had great seats to see the ventriloquist. He was hilarious and even had a guy out of the audience come up on stage and be a puppet. Poor guy… nite to self, never sit in the front row! Lol

After the show we hung out listening to a great piano player who before the show did all Billy Joel songs then later did a nice mix of music. Tomorrow we have our first port of call in Ketchikan! Can’t wait!!
