Day 10 – Final Day – London to Charlotte

Well my friends, I’m no longer going to worry or stress about bad luck on Friday the 13th… my new fearful day is Sat the 14th! Lol

The day started out fine with getting up early, grabbing a quick breakfast and getting off the ship. We were off the ship and on the Celebrity shuttle bus to Heathrow airport by 7:30 AM. But that’s when the downfall began. We waited on the bus and waited and waited and finally by about 8:30, the two passengers who were late finally came so we took off. Funny side note, the people who were late actually took the group picture of all of us at the glacier. Weird!

But even with the hour delay, we still felt we had plenty of time since our flight didn’t leave until 12:15 and it was just a 1.5 hour drive to Heathrow.

When we got to the airport we had to take our Covid test (the one where you have to do a FaceTime type chat with a person who watches you do it) prior to checking in. So we both started to do that but for various different reasons, Kathy was not able to do hers via the app. No worries we thought, there is a place right at the airport that does Covid tests in person so she went there to do that while I stayed at check in and did mine. My online test went fine and I tested negative (Yay!) but Kathy texted me to say her testing area had a pretty long line and she wasn’t sure she’d make it for our flight but for me to get checked in and head to the gate, which I did.

After waiting for some time, Kathy texted and said she had good and bad news. The good news was that she tested negative but the bad news was she would miss our flight. But the other good news was she could get a first class seat on the next flight! Hmmm… so was this all a ploy since she was so tired of being with me for the last 10 days that she needed a break?? Just kidding… I think! Lol

So I got on my flight and had a smooth flight back and arrived about 3:30 PM. But now another dilemma… we had parked in the employee parking lot (for free!) but I needed Kathy’s FOB to get out of the garage and she had it with her! So I just went to the exit and “piggy backed” off a person that was leaving. Crisis averted! I then drove home and unpacked and went back to the airport later to pick up Kathy.

I must say, for a trip I didn’t have planned two months ago, this was an outstanding trip and far exceeded my expectations in all aspects. I would highly recommend putting the fjords of Norway on your bucket list. Not sure when my next trip is but I now have the travel bug again so it may be soon! Thanks for following along!

My last and only pic is one we took right before getting off the ship. I really have to thank Kathy for inviting me on this trip with her. She is an amazing person and we had a blast together! Goodbye until next time.
