Day 9 – Sea Day – Back to Southampton

Like I said a few days ago, sea days are nice especially after having four straight days of excursions and activity. It was nice to sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast with our friends and spend the day just exploring the ship and doing fun activities. Soon after breakfast the ladies went to the jewelry sale and the guys just chilled. It’s amazing how much the jewelry is marked up… a $12,000 ring marked down to $4,000… so I got two! Lol.

We spent a little time getting us listed and checked in for our standby seats for the flight home. Hoping to get upgraded to First Class but not sure yet. We then went and watched the “Battle of the Genders” game, which was OK but then stumbled across these two guys playing violin near the coffee shop and they were so good. We sat and listened to them for their whole set.

We also had some “busy work” to do… buy Covid tests to get back in the USA. Bummer we have to get tested just to fly home. And we couldn’t use our free ones but got these “Telehealth” ones where we log on their app and take the test while some one watches us via a FaceTime type screen session. We also had to book the Celebrity shuttle to get to the airport from the ship, and the worst of all… PACK!! That task surely marks the beginning of the end of the cruise. Bah Humbug!

But then we went and played some trivia which was fun and listened to more live music. We met our friends at 6:15 for an early dinner so we could catch the show and then the late night comedian. We also caught an amazing sunset which is always cool to see on a cruise ship. Also included a few final pics from our balcony. Loved that space to not only bring in the natural light but a great place to hang out and see the fjords.

Our plan tomorrow is to be off the boat and on the airport shuttle by 7:15 AM, get to Heathrow by about 9 AM, get thru security and immigration and be at our gate by about 10:30 to be ready to board our 12:15 flight that gets us in to Charlotte by 3:45 PM. Whew… hope it all works as planned!

I’ll close today’s entry out by saying that while I’m sad to have this cruise end (and so glad Kathy didn’t get sick of me and toss me overboard!), I’ve missed my two little grandsons and can’t wait to see them. They are such a hoot and make this “Pap Pap’s” heart smile. I included a recent pic of them from a wedding they were at last weekend as well as a pic of the gifts I got them (Meg don’t show it to them since I want it to be a surprise! Lol). I’ll send one last entry for this trip after tomorrow’s return home!

PS: Hope everyone had a lucky and scary free Friday the 13th! We did!
