Day 3 – Boarding the Ship!

All aboard! Bon voyage! And all those other cool sail away sayings! Had a great stay at the Moxy Hotel and their breakfast buffet was awesome (We had to practice getting our eating skills in shape for the cruise!)

We were originally scheduled to board the ship at 11:30 AM but we got an email from the cruise line saying the ship was delayed an hour due to medical emergency the night before. We could have walked but having to drag all our luggage we decided to get a taxi and it only cost us 4 British Pounds. We got there at Noon and got boarded pretty quickly. We just so happened to meet a couple of the ship nurses in the elevator and they told us a passenger had to be airlifted via a helicopter basket that was lowered down to the ship! And I thought, is this the curse of the Titanic or what?? Hope not! By the way, our cruise ship is the Celebrity Silhouette which was refurbished in 2020 and looks really nice.

We got settled on board and of course went straight to the Lido deck for the buffet lunch (I told you we were in training but now this is the real deal!). We also met up with the two British couples who Kathy had gone on a previous cruise with (they all had booked this one together… until I crashed the party!). They are very lovely people and we’ll be doing some excursions with them as well as all eating dinner together most nights. It should be a fun cruise (and I’ll surely have my British accent down by the end of it! Cheers, mate!).

We went to the sail away party and watched the boat leave Southampton. We then all went to dinner together. We decided to do the “Anytime Dining” option since 6 PM seemed too early and 8:30 PM seemed too late. Tonight we all met at 7 PM and had an amazing dinner. We then went and watched a show and hung out at the “ice bar”. Tomorrow will be a day at sea so lots of relaxing!

PS: I’m not sure if the internet package we have will allow me to send pictures so I’ll send the verbiage first and try sending the pics next.
