I was looking for a nice restaurant for my last night in Buenos Aires and wanted something different but also tied in with the culture. I found this quaint little place out in the suburbs called “i Latina”. They bill themselves as a culinary journey from Mexico to Patagonia. They also come highly recommended. They are rated the best restaurant in Argentina, second best in South America, and sixteenth best in the world.
In essence it is a tasting menu with seven courses (really 9 if you include the appetizer and cookies) and each course originates from a country in Latin America. I also opted for the wine pairings (they didn’t have sweet tea!), and each wine complimented the amazing flavors from each course. While each course was relatively small, the flavors were huge and I was stuffed at the end. It was a two hour gastronomical experience!
They even brewed fresh Colombian coffee right at my table and while I’m not a coffee drinker it was really good. They had many different people coming out to explain each dish and wine pairing but my favorite was my main waitress named Maria. I told her she looked like the American singer/actress Mandy Moore (check out the pic and tell me if you agree… or maybe it was all that wine! Lol). She got so excited because she loves watching “This is Us” which Mandy stars in. Small world! All in all it was the nicest dining experience I’ve ever had. On to Uruguay!
