Dingle – Final Day

Well remember how I’ve been telling you how friendly the people of Ireland are? And remember in my entry from “Dingle – Day 1” when I said I met this nice little Irish woman on the train who had the gift of gab? So this shows how really nice the Irish are. She invited me over for dinner and to let me do my laundry. Now how nice is that?

And she is a hoot. So she’s driving me around this little town called Ballybunnion and we come up to a statue and she says do you know who that is. And it was a statue of Bill Clinton! Lol. He came here in 1998 and played their golf course here right along the ocean and said it was the nicest course he ever played. To make sure he felt welcomed, they even had the name on the beauty shop changed from “Monica’s”! Lol. It was a cute little seaside town.

So we’re driving along and she gets a call from her niece that her good friend’s son had died and they were having the funeral right now at the woman’s house… so we went! It was really strange that they had the casket and body right there in the house with what must have been a hundred people there. She just told everyone I was her cousin from America! Lol.

This house was beautiful and right along the ocean. They had all kinds of food and alcohol and everyone was just talking, drinking and laughing. It was sort of bizarre. But in a weird way it was cool to experience an Irish funeral!

Then we went back to her house and I got to meet her two brothers and her sister. Most of them live in the area but she does have two brothers that live in Los Angeles.

And that was my day. It was the kind of serendipitous fun that happens when you travel! Crazy!

Hope everybody had a great weekend. Here the pics from today. Enjoy!
