Dingle – Day 1

Well I made it to the Dingle Peninsula, the westernmost tip of Ireland (and Europe, for that matter). But I had to take two trains and a bus to get here. The two trains took about 3 hours but it went by fast because I met this cute little Irish woman that clearly had the gift of gab! (Not that I don’t!). She literally talked almost the whole three hours but we had a fun conversation. She asked me a lot about America and of course Trump! Lol. She had been to the US one time about 3 years ago. Sort of a funny story but her niece married Dick Van Dyke’s grandson. She said he was really funny in person and still looks great for his age (he’s 93!).

The town of Dingle, where I’m staying, is this quaint little fishing village. The population is only 2,000 people and they say the court house is only open one day per month and the judge tries to wrap up business within a few hours. So I’ll be slowing way down this week. But for those that have followed me for awhile, you know I like to follow a big city trip, like Dublin, with an off the beaten path small town and you can’t get more off the beaten path than here.

It was a little cloudy when I first got here but then it cleared up for a nice sunset. And they have great crack here! No, not the drug! Lol. The Irish call good music, laughter and fun times, crack, but it’s spelled craic. So I went and found some good craic after dinner. Speaking of dinner, I had this great hake fish dish that they had just caught fresh this morning in Dingle Bay. They’re known for their seafood here so I’ll have to sample several places (of course all the ones recommended by Rick Steves!).

Well I’ll let the pictures do the talking. I also included a video of the craic! Enjoy!
