Thursday 5/23/19 – Part 2 – So I hopped another bus from Pasaia to Hondarribia which was only another 25 minutes or so. This place was a little bigger than Pasaia and had three main parts I explored. The “old town” that’s enclosed within the old town walls, the port area with lots of boats and looking across the bay to a little island called Hendaia (I didn’t make it over there), and a cool street called San Pedro Kalea where all the Tapas bars are (I did make it there!).
The old town is this jumble of cobbled stoned streets and narrow alleyways. It was funny to see everyone having their clothes hung out to dry. The port area is beautiful with mountains in the background. And San Pedro street is the old fisherman’s village with tall, narrow, colorful houses similar to Pasaia. They say that the bright color of the owner’s house is the same color of his boat so he’d make sure he used up all the paint. Crazy!
Again, I’ll let the pics do all the talking. Hope everyone is having a great Thursday. Enjoy!
