Thursday 5/9/19 – Part 2 – This section will focus on the two little villages of Villefranche-sur-Mer and St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
Villefranche-sur-Mer feels more Italian than French, with pastel-orange buildings, steep narrow lanes spilling into the sea, and lots of boats glistening in the bay as you’ll see from the first set of pics.
St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is a landscaped paradise where the 1 percent of the 1 percent compete for the best view. The people that live here are the uber rich. The Rothschild’s have a mansion here and the late Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft and Chairman of the Seattle Seahawks) built a huge home as well. Geographically, Cap Ferrat is the southern tip of the Alps. The range emerges from the sea here and arcs all across Europe, over 700 miles, to Vienna. I toured the little village portion and then took this really cool 2 hour hike around the peninsula. They created this walkway that was a little precarious at times (as you’ll see from the pics) because it hugged the rocky coastline. The views from along here were spectacular! I did see a cruise ship in port which I think was in Monaco, just down the coast. I’ll again let the pics do the talking. I hope tomorrow’s weather is just as nice (or should I say Nice!). Lol. Enjoy!
Jeff
