Key West Trip – 2016

This is a summary of a week long trip to Key West from 4/30/16 to 5/6/16. It was my first time to Key West and I LOVED it! I would definitely like to go back some day. Got a great condo along the coast a little north of the main downtown Key West area and pretty much just rode a bike into town each day. Saw some amazing sunrises and sunsets and included a few. I got lucky and it happened to be the annual Songwriter’s Festival that week so there was free music at venues all across the island. I enjoyed touring the Harry Truman Little White House. Took a beautiful sunset cruise. Had fun deep sea fishing and it was the first day of flounder season and they were biting like crazy. Also caught some red and yellow snapper. These two British guys caught a huge flounder (see pic) and were leaving that day to go back to England so they gave me a bunch of their fish. A restaurant cooked it all up and I ate off of it all week. So delicious! Toured the Enerst Hemmingway home and say the cats with six toes! I included a pic but you can’t see the 6 toes. Drove the coastal highway US Route 1 from Key West to Key Largo. Just breathtaking. Had fun watching all the crazy drunk people along Duval Street while also enjoying all the street performers on Mallory Square. Each night a large group of people gather there to watch the beautiful sunsets. Of course I also took a picture at the touristy southern most point. But if you remember from my Hawaii blog, Key West is the southern most point in the “continental” USA but you now know that the point on one of the Hawaii islands is truly the southern most point of the USA. All in all, I truly enjoyed Key West and would go back in a heart beat! Enjoy!!
