Adding a high level summary and some pics from my trip to Australia from 4/22/11 to 5/8/11. My daughter was doing a study abroad there in Sydney and she and I traveled the country together on her spring break. We went snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef and hiked thru the rain forests in Cairn. We flew to the outback and saw Uluru/Ayers Rock (Amazing!). Went to Melbourne and enjoyed the European feel of the city and then went out to Phillip Island to watch the miniature penguins come marching out of the ocean (Unreal!). Spent lots of time enjoying the city of Sydney as well as the Blue Mountains right outside the city as well as all the wonderful wineries. Also enjoyed seeing the Twelve Apostles (rock formations along the ocean). It’s such a beautiful country and the people were so friendly. I really wanted to get over to New Zealand but did not make it there. Plan to do a separate trip to New Zealand and possibly even go back to Australia some day. However it did take 24 hours to fly there from Charlotte! (But well worth it!). Enjoy!
