Tienanmen Square

Well I did a marathon tourist trip today. I started out at Tianaman Square which
wasn't that great but it sure was fun people watching. Then over to the
Forbidden City which was really cool. I then went to see the Lama Temple, where
the Dali Lama comes when he's not in Tibet and they said it was the largest
Tibetan Monastary outside of Tibet. It was amazing seeing all the people
offering up their incense as hommage to the Buddha's as well as kneeling and
chanting. Of course they were also burning the incense so the whole place
smelled like a Rolling Stones concert! Then on to the final stop at the
Confucius Temple. Confucius says... Jeff's feet are tired! I navigated the
subway for the first time and it was really great and easy to get around and
also cheap. Only 15 cents a ride including all transfers! That's the nice thing
about China, most things are really inexpensive... it's just getting there
that's expensive!

I had a nice end to my day with about 10 of the people staying at the hostel all
having a family style dinner of all traditional Chinese dishes homemade by the
hostel staff. Of course all of us being travel bugs it was great trading travel
stories with everyone. The funny thing was, all 10 of us were each from a
different country.

Well I hope all is well with everyone.
