Third Time’s a Charm

Hello all! Yep, you probably guessed it... I'm back in Hawaii for the third time
in two months. They say the third time's the charm and since I'm so charming
(gag, gag, cough, cough) I figured I'd give Hawaii one last time to truly prove
itself as being the paradise it claims to be. This time I'm staying on the Big
Island (actually called Hawaii). For those new to this daily blog, I also
visited the islands of Maui and Kauai recently. This island is so big I'm
actually staying in two different places to more easily cover it all. I'll spend
the first 6 days or so on the western side in Kona and then the last 3 days I'll
spend over in Volcano National Park trying to see some live hot lava as it's
flowing from the volcano. Should be cool.

This place I'm staying at a little south of Kona is really cool. It's a little
cottage/cabin on a coffee plantation and they also grow fruits. The owner left
me some apple bananas (smaller bananas with an apple like flavor, an avocado and
a papaya, all picked fresh today (see pic). How cool is that! My flight over was
also a winner. I got an exit row aisle seat for both legs of the trip which was
especially nice on the 6 hour flight from Phoenix to Kona. Not too shabby for a
free standby ticket!

Since I got here in the late afternoon, I didn't have a lot of time to explore
since I had to meet my landlord and check in. I did venture down to a national
historic park that was near my place. It was right on the water and had some
really cool Hawaiian historical buildings and statues. I took a picture of a
statue of a man and woman that someone said was Barrack and Michelle Obama (just
kidding!)

Tomorrow I plan on exploring around in the morning and going deal sea fishing in
the afternoon. Hope I reel in a big one! Hope everyone is having a good week so
far.
