The Amalfi Coast – WOW!

I know it's a very simple and over used word, but that's pretty much what I was
saying as we came around every hairpin curve and that was WOW! For those who've
been here, you know what I mean. Each town is built into the rocky cliffs and
the walks back up from the beach to the main road are not for those with bum
knees! So today I decided to splurge and hired a private driver to take me all
along the Amalfi Coast. My new good friend was Tony DeSimone and he was not only
very knowledgeable about all the little towns and the sites along the way but he
was a real comedian. He lived in a small village just north of Sorrento and he
said he was good friends with a DeMaria family! (I think he may have said that
just for a good tip!) He picked me up at my hotel at 9 AM and we didn't get back
until close to 7 PM. It was close to being the highlight of my entire trip. As
always, the pictures can't do it justice. It was so beautiful and stunning and
in each of the little towns, all of the people were so friendly. And just like
everything else in Italy, no one pays attention to the road signs. Several
points we came up to a sign that said the road was closed, but Tony just drove
around it and kept on going! I think that's why there weren't so many cars and
buses along the route since it was relatively quiet. We visited the main towns
of Positano, Amalfi and Ravello but also drove thru Sant'Agata, Praiano, Atrani,
Minori and Maiori. I'll just let the pictures tell the story. It was a beautiful
and scenic day along the Amalfi Coast. Definitely a bucket list item!

Hope this finds you all enjoying your "over the hump" day. I'm sending out
positive vibes for my Trivia team for tonight's big game! 🙂
