Well it seems that whole idea of slowing down the go, go, go sorta went, went, went! I tried but this island is just too beautiful and I needed to explore from sunrise to sunset and that's just what I did. I think I'll do a little more exploring on Friday and then actually take Saturday and Sunday off and just chill (anybody taking bets on that one!) So since I was still sort of on east coast time, I woke up early around 6 AM (I know, that's not early for you working stiffs, but for this globe trotting vagabond, it is!) and caught a really cool sunrise at Anahola Beach. Then checked out Opaeka'a Falls, then the really cool beach town of Po'ipo. They have this big blowhole called Spouting Horn that was really neat to watch. Then over to Maha'elupu Beach with all these incredible sandstone cliffs. Drove thru the towns of Kalaheo and Hanapepe and then stopped in the town of Waimea to sample their shave ice (nowhere near as good as the one in Maui but I'll keep sampling the others on Kauai just to be sure!). I then drove up into Waimea Canyon. They call this the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. I haven't been to the real Grand Canyon but this place was beautiful (picture attached). Then circled back around the island to Hanalei (made famous for where Puff the Magic Dragon frolicked!) and then caught a really cool sunset at Ke'e Beach. Whew... whirlwind day but not too tiring since I didn't get my hiking shoes out and mostly drove the whole island. The island is supposed to have the best hiking in all of Hawaii so maybe next week I'll try it out. TGIF to everyone! By the way, try to figure out if the other picture I sent you was the sunrise or the sunset. Both are breathtaking! Jeff
