Hutongs/Night Markets

So you thought I'd take the weekend off from writing to you didn't you... LOL.
This is a short one since I'm heading to the airport soon and will be taking a
flight from Beijing to Shanghai very early on Sunday morning. So today I visited
several Hutongs. They are the old sort of "neighborhoods" of Beijing but many of
them are being torn down to build new buildings. They are very narrow streets or
alleys that have all kinds of stores and shops on them (if you're from
Charlotte, think of Birkdale all crammed into one narrow alley with no rich
white people!) but the stores aren't upscale at all, just all these little mom
and pop places. Very cute and nice to stroll down. Then I swung by Tianaman
Square again to watch the flag lowering this time with an upfront view (It's so
cool I may just enlist!). After that I just had to take another swing over to
the night market and lo and behold they had some new products out that they
didn't have the other night. As the picture shows (OK, I know many of you show
these to your young children for laughs but this one is a little racy so be
careful with the little ones) and they so conveniently had signs above each
"product" and I'm just saying... stay away from the one second from the right!!
I don't know how these people eat this stuff and this time, I cancelled my "when
in Rome"theory... YUK! Have a great weekend!!
