Hawaii Take Two!

Well boys and girls, we'll start this adventure off with the old adage, "if it
ain't broke, don't fix it", and let me tell you Hawaii ain't broken! So since
the US Airways standby seats were wide open, and I had a week's worth of time
before my next trip, I decided to head back to Hawaii but try out a different
island. This time I'll be staying on Kauai, the northern most inhabited Hawaiian
island. They call it the Garden Isle and some claim it's even more beautiful
than Maui, but we'll see about that! So far I'm pretty impressed.

And remember that TV show the Jefferson's and their theme song was "Well we're
movin' on up...", yep that's me on this trip. I'm staying in a big old fancy
condo on one of the nicest golf courses on the island with a view of both the
mountains and the ocean... and guess what I'm paying for it? Those of you that
know me well, know I love to negotiate for a great deal and so I used one of my
favorite websites vrbo.com to find this condo and got it for $60 a night! That's
a steal on Kauai and just slightly more than I paid for my hostel in Maui.
Actually, there weren't any good hostels on Kauai but this place is so much
better. And the owner is a really cool guy. He owns a vineyard in Oregon and was
nice enough to leave one of his bottles of wine as a welcoming gift. Cool
stuff.

So today I pretty much spent the whole day traveling and got in late afternoon
and started heading to the condo. It's about an hour north from the airport.
It's on the North shore of the island which in the winter (ha! with highs of
only 80 instead of 82) has more rain and more high surf than the other parts of
the island but it's also the most picturesque and the greenest. So of course, I
couldn't just head straight to the condo from the airport so I explored for a
little while and found this really cool waterfall not too far off the road and
attached a picture of it.

And I hope you're all sitting down for this next one... I just may take it a
little easier on this trip and not do the constant go, go, go that I've been
doing. This island is so beautiful and relaxing that I just may have to kick it
into neutral. You know all this traveling is hard work and I need a break. OK,
did I hear someone scoff out there??? Everyone? LOL. Actually, I'm so thankful
you're all holding reality down while I'm off on Fantasy Island!

Hope everyone's having a good week!
