Well I decided to take it a little easier today and actually slept in! LOL. Since I had hardly been on any of the beaches here the whole time I've been here I decided to do my "hiking" on some of the various beaches. I started out on South Maui and did Big Beach which is part of Makena State Park. It had a really great view over to Molokini (a volcano crater sticking up out of the water that is the best snorkeling spot in Maui) and also a view over to Kaho'olawe, which is an island that the US armed forces used for target practice for years and is off limits but was recently returned to Hawaii and they're trying to bring it back to "life" so people can eventually move there. I then snuck over to the other nude beach on the island called Secret Beach. Come on people... I was just going for the beautiful views looking out to sea! Puh-leaze! LOL. I did a lot of walking along those beaches since it was so nice out and by then it was lunch time so I went to Sam Soto's, a Japanese noodle place. It was very tasty! As you might imagine, there is a large Japanese influence on the island since it's not too far away. I then went up to the West side of Maui and went to Ka'anapali Beach. This was a really nice beach as well. I have to admit, after awhile they all start to look the same! Quick side note, one of the funniest things on this trip has been listening to the GPS lady's voice try to pronounce all the Hawaiian street names given all the vowels! I know... it's the little things that can crack you up! I then went up to the Napili and Kapalua areas. Also beautiful. After all of that I went to this really cool concert. It was called the Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert. OK, I said banjos in the title but it was really guitars and ukuleles and it was really a great concert. Good music and very Hawaiian. As they say, "when in Rome"! Well tomorrow is my last day but I take the red eye flight back leaving at 11:30 PM so that means I still have a whole day to explore and you know me, I'll find something fun. Have a good one!
