Well like I said yesterday, if there’s a cable car nearby I’m probably going to ride it so I spent the whole day hiking on top of the Dachstein Mountain range over beautiful Hallstatt. I took the bus around the lake to the little town of Obertraun where the cable car is. It took me up to the top of the Krippenstein mountain at 6,600 feet. So it was darn chilly up there but I thought heck if Jack Dawson can hang on to Rose in that icy cold water, I can suck it up and hike the chilly mountains! Lol.Speaking of which the whole day I was thinking of two movies, The Sound of Music (“The Hills are alive…”) and of course Titanic (“I’m the king of the world!”). They had all these cool trails once you got up there. I took one to what they call the five fingers viewing platform. I took a pic so you can see what I mean. They have these five separate wire walkways (like fingers) out over the cliff (not for the faint of heart!) to get views down to the town of Hallstatt and Lake HallstatterSee. WOW just breathtaking. I even had a pic taken (with a picture frame in the back) to prove I actually had the guts to walk out there (see how my white knuckles are clutching the railing! Lol).I hiked to the peak but there was no one else there to take my pic (and my arms are too short for a good selfie!) so I just took the pic of the cross. My king of the world pose was a little below the peak but it still counts! There were lots of hang gliders up there so I zoomed in on one. It looks like he’s in a little cocoon and I think he waved to me!After all that hiking I was exhausted so I came back and chilled for a little bit then went out to dinner. After dinner I saw this sign for a free concert at the church. (Church?? Count me in! Lol). So they had this group from Australia called New World Rhythm and they sang all acapella and harmonized so well. The acoustics sounded great in that church and it was cool that they sang songs from all over the world. African, Russian, Irish, Australian, and even English… they sang Hallelujah from Shrek! I captured it on tape for you videophiles if you want it.Well that was my long and tiring day. My B&B owner is an avid hiker and said she’d give me a map for another good hike tomorrow. Should be fun. Hope everyone had a great Thursday!Jeff
